Traditionally in Japan ‘Nomunication hour’ – a hybrid of nomu (drink)
and communication, is after 5pm – when it’s cocktail hour and time to
talk things over. The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time collection was
inspired by this Japanese custom – with each timepiece named after
drinks mixed by Hisashi Kishi, head bartender of Star Bar in Tokyo’s
Ginza area.
With a dial designed to resemble the view of the
drink through a glass, this timepiece is inspired by a “beer julep”
cocktail. Mr Kishi mixes Japanese beer with whisky, gin, sugar syrup,
lemon and basil leaves, to create a fragrant and fresh aperitif. The
dial of this piece beautifully captures the sparkling crispness of the
cocktail.
A striking gold-coloured case and bracelet match its
dial whilst golden indices are complemented by dauphine hands and a date
function at 3 o’clock. It has a three-fold clasp with a push button
release, as well as a see-through exhibition case back.
This piece is 40.5mm in diameter and 11.8mm deep.
Seiko Presage: Timeless looks, precise mechanical timekeeping; minimalistic watch designs with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic.
